FAQ

WHAT IS PELVIC FLOOR PHYSIOTHERAPY?

Pelvic floor physiotherapy is a branch of physiotherapy specializing in pelvic floor related issues. Often people think that this is strictly directed at the pelvic floor region (ie. private areas), however it can be much more broad than that! Although they primarily treat muscles involved in urinary, bowel, and sexual functions, other structures of the body could play a larger role than one may think!

The pelvic floor and other structures of the body work closely together, such as the inner core, hips, back, legs, and feet (believe it or not!).

WHAT WOULD MY 1ST AND 2ND SESSIONS LOOK LIKE?

Your first initial assessment would primarily be a detailed history taking session. Included in this 60-minute session would be questions about any previous injuries or accidents, the symptoms you are currently experiencing or have experienced, your nutrition, your physical activity levels, and discuss what your goals are with regards to your treatment. *

* Please note that you do not need to share anything you are uncomfortable sharing! We take your consent very seriously and will respect your boundaries at all times.

Depending on the types of symptoms you described, the follow up appointment would likely include an internal examination. Evidence shows that this is the most effective method of assessing the pelvic floor muscles.
If you decide that you’d prefer to not experience this assessment internally, methods using biofeedback to assess the pelvic floor is a great alternative examination technique.

DO WE OFFER DIRECT BILLING?

At this time our clinic does not bill insurance directly (including WSIB and MVA claims), however we are more than happy to send or print the required information for you to submit any claims!

The accepted payment methods include: credit, debit, cash, cheque, and e-transfer.
